Wedding Hairstyle Tips From a Pro
Say “Yes to the Tress” with wedding hairstyle tips from a Pro to help you put your best hair forward when you say, “I Do”. So you’ve got the perfect man, now all you need is the perfect mane. From engagement to wedding day there’s so much that happens, with these tips hopefully, your hair will be one less worry.
Hairstyle Do’s for Your Wedding
Start growing your hair ASAP Unless its already quite long. Depending on the looks you’re considering but as a rule of thumb shoot for 4 inches below the collar bone minimum for most up dos or even half up half down. On this note do consider hair extensions. Even if you have long hair, most looks you see are beefed up with extensions. It adds volume and holds curls like no other. Its basically the wine of hair, no matter what the situation, when it comes to styling, extensions make it better.
Stick with your stylist, now is not the time to be adventurous. Unless your current stylist doesn’t do up dos or there’s a specific person you have in mind because you’re familiar with their work. Ask your stylist to make a recommendation of someone who does great work.
Get a hair trial. Quite often, like picking the perfect dress, what you thought you wanted for your hairstyle may not be what you really end up liking. Not something you want to learn on your big day. I have done 3 different styles on a bride during the trial because she thought she knew what she wanted but when we did it, she didn’t like how it looked on her. Its crucial to make the big day smooth and set expectations.
Find a style you like that is in your hair color. I cannot stress this enough. Have you noticed that a majority of updos or event styles are done on blonde models? The reason is not because blondes go to more parties. It’s because the same light theory that makes a LBD the most loved article of clothing ever. Black (dark colors) absorb light, and white (light colors) reflect. So just like the details of the overindulgent holiday meal I just had will soon be visible in my light blue gym leggings, so the details of a beautiful fishtail blonde braid pop compared to a raven-haired counterpart.
Hairstyle Don’ts for Your Special Day
Change your hair. Even if you were contemplating going lighter/darker stick with what you’ve been doing. After all, you want to feel most like “you” and the last thing you want is to have to deal with a color correction or having too many layers for the up do you planned and did a trial with your stylist for.
Avoid anything overly trendy. Stripes and headband highlights are all the rage but the last thing you want in your forever photos is a look you will regret in a few years and will haunt you till the end of time. Stick with what you’ve bee doing and if you have and trendy look consider toning it down for the wedding. Think classic and timeless. You can always go back.
